Should You Import Via Wallet Address or CSV?

For certain wallet sources in ZenLedger you have the option to import directly via wallet address or via CSV.

If this is your first time importing transactions from the source (i.e. Trezor, Ledger), we recommend importing transactions directly via wallet address. In this case, you would find your public receive wallet address(es) for each blockchain that you use and then import those into ZenLedger. This method is guarantees to import all of your transactions and it is simple to resync wallet addresses later on.

If it’s the case that you have imported a CSV(s) from this source in the past (when we didn’t offer the direct wallet address import method), we still recommend the method of now importing your wallet addresses directly. You would first need to remove any prior CSV’s you have imported from this source, and then proceed to add the wallet address(es) from the source directly.

  • When you do this be sure you do not have your transaction date lock set, to ensure the entire transaction history imports.
  • For information on how to delete a source, check out our Remove Transaction article. The reason we recommend this is because it offers much more assurance that your full transaction history will be imported and it will make it much easier to import new transactions in the future as you can simply resync the wallet address directly in your account.
  • If you still prefer to import your transactions via CSV you can follow our instructions to do that. Please be sure to only import new transactions in the CSV to avoid duplicate transactions.

NOTE: If you have many different accounts in a Wallet such as Ledger Live with multiple wallet addresses, importing all of these addresses can time consuming and tedious. In such scenarios, you can choose to import the CSV from Ledger Live.

If you have tokens/blockchains unsupported by Zenledger, you can use Custom CSV for import.

For BTC wallet address import, you may require to import the Extended Public Address (xPUB address).
